Claim: Nitrogen Emissions from farms are dangerous and the Dutch Farmers are unreasonable.
Propaganda masquerades as fact.
ABC opposes Dutch farmers with pro-EU propaganda masquerading as news.
The Australian Broadcasting Commission did an infomercial recently masquerading as a news article called “Enraged farmers cause chaos throughout the Netherlands. What's going on?”; basically a propaganda piece supporting the European emissions reductions laws that have been put through in Holland, against which the Dutch farmers are protesting.
In many parts of the Netherlands nitrogen emissions need to be reduced by 70 per cent, according to plans announced by the Dutch government at the start of June.
The 70 per cent would concern 131 areas near vulnerable natural areas, in an attempt to let those protected environments recover.
Behind that requirement is the fact that nitrogen emissions can cause acid rain and fertiliser washed into waterways can be a threat to marine life and an excess of nitrogen compounds — such as ammonia — affects the biodiversity in nature reserves.
Farmers in the most vulnerable areas are given the options invest in sustainability or move away.
We are living in a completely irrational world. What this ABC article does not make clear is that the Dutch government wants the farmers to cull their herds because the nitrogen emissions from the animal’s poop supposedly will cause acid rain. The ABC accentuates the fertiliser ‘danger’ but the reason the farmers are protesting is because they are asking them to cull the herds. In fact, the ABC’s imbalanced reporting is their tacit admission that making an issue of nitrogen emissions from herds is completely ridiculous.
Nitrogen Emissions are a problem? No food might be a bigger problem.
So these Nitrogen emissions are from the poop from farm animals and are supposedly going to destroy Holland’s nature reserves with acid rain? From the track history of these bureaucrats, propagandists and fake scientists in predicting no more floods in Australia, sea level rises by 2020 that would completely destroy New York, an end to snow and sea ice, and so on, I would hazard a guess that they are wrong.
Where is the peer reviewed research to support these claims? Show me the data.
The Netherlands has 21 National parks and over 160 nature reserves. So far they have not been destroyed by acid rain.
For hundreds of years Dutch people have been farming in Holland. The poop from the pigs and cows did not destroy Holland then with a flood of acid rain.
And what will replace the farms, once they have reduced their flocks by 30-40%?
More nature reserves, perhaps, filled with pooping bears, reindeer and wild boars?
Before there were farms anywhere, there were forests filled with farting bears, reindeer and wild boar, pooping everywhere on the forest floor, and this did not cause acid rain that destroyed the forests, obviously.
And before that, let us say, when there were dinosaurs roaming the earth depositing massive mountains of poop on the prehistoric forest floor, did their nitrogen emissions destroy the earth by causing huge floods of acid rain? I think not.
Forced to reduce flocks by 30-40%, farmers protest
In order to meet a planned Nitrogen emissions reduction of 50% by 2030, Dutch farmers are being forced to reduce their flocks by 30-40%. This will ruin them financially.
Farmers are blocking food distribution centres with trucks. There are thousands of trucks protesting and some are flying the Canadian flag.
These farmers used trucks to form a message visible from above: “No farmers, no food! Help!”
This footage of the police shooting at a farmer went viral; the driver of the truck was a sixteen year old boy, and the position of the bullet holes shows the police only barely missed his head. The policeman who fired the shot has had to go into hiding.
Supermarket shelves are empty because of the protests.
CHANGELOG
14 July 2022 11:42am Added the following paragraph to clarify what the real issue is:
What this ABC article does not make clear is that the Dutch government wants the farmers to cull their herds because the nitrogen emissions from the animal’s poop supposedly will cause acid rain. The ABC accentuates the fertiliser ‘danger’ but the reason the farmers are protesting is because they are asking them to cull the herds.
14 July 2022 11:52am improved the sarcastic passage with the inclusion of dinosaur poop. And added the sentence about ABC’s imbalanced reporting being a tacit admission.
