Editorial: God does not want you to sacrifice your conscience.
I have been reflecting for some time on the coercion that was applied to us to take the vaccine.
Many Christians used the instructions to obey the government in Romans 13 as a reason – or an excuse for caving in to the coercion.
Taking the jab was actually portrayed as a sacrifice we should make so that we can continue our ministries, our jobs, look after our families.
Those of us whose consciences said we should not bow to medical coercion were portrayed as selfish and self concerned, despite the fact that it was far more difficult and costly to stick to our guns, so to speak, rather than bowing to the pressure to be vaccinated. I for one was not doing it for myself, but to show other people that it could be done. How many people might have died from the jab, who might have followed my example, if I had caved in? My conscience said not to take it, that it was wrong.
This bears a great deal of resemblance to the situation Christians faced in the first and second centuries of Rome, when all they had to do to continue their lives, their ministries, their job, was to burn a little bit of incense to the Emperor. You don’t have to mean it, their friends might have said. Just do it. Just obey - you’re doing the right thing - doesn’t the Bible say obey the lawful authorities?
I know some men who took the jab to keep their jobs, against their consciences. Each case is similar. After taking it, the man fell into depression, and his job became anathema to him, something he hated and going to work seemed pointless.
The thing is, God does not want us to sacrifice our conscience. He wants us to be willing to sacrifice the other things in our lives, in order to follow our consciences.
Freedom of conscience is a fundamental human right. Our governments and health bureaucracies like King Saul have rebelled against God in forcing medical coercion on us. They will have the kingdom taken away from them in the end.
