The 2008 Climategate emails hacked from the Hadley Climate Cemtre in the UK revealed the level of puzzlement, data manipulation, and lies from climate scientists who were publicly saying how bad global warming was, but in their private emails were admitting they could not find any evidence it was actually happening. Now these emails had been requested under FOI but never eventuated - government funded institutions in UK were required to make public anything that was FOI’d - but someone - purportedly a hacker but probably an insider - made the emails publicly available on a server.
One notorious quote from the time was about “Mike’s Nature trick” - which was tacking on the real temperatures to a bunch of proxies with different time series resolution and claiming that this graph showed the unprecedented level of warming in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Well Swedish engineer Hampus Soderqvist has finally unravelled all the data used to make this erroneous graph - and it’s not a pretty picture.
Not only were inappropriate proxies used but they seem to have been carefully chosen (cherry picked) to give the right impression.
