SV40 promoters are used all the time in genomics to enable gene integration. The main consequence of SV40 promoter sequence contamination would seem to be cancer.
I wouldn't worry too much -- I guess those cells that were exposed have long since been replaced.
Thanks for the reply. I have been very sensitive to mentions of SV40 since I read Edward Hooper's "The River" where it claims that over half of the sugarcube OPV's were contaminated with SV40 (complete viral strains) during manufacture.
WTF is a promoter? I was probably exposed to SV40 in 1964 when I took the sugarcube OPV.
